Answers to your immediate questions about this 8 week experiential course.

Is the course suitable for beginners?

Of course !! The course builds in content and each week has a different theme.  8 weeks may seem like a big commitment if you are new to mindfulness.  It is a commitment, but a commitment to yourself and your own wellbeing.  We should value our mental health just as strongly as our physical health.

How do I book a place on the Course?

Click on the 'Book Online' section of the Webpage, click on the course/session you're interested in, and follow the instructions.

If you get stuck, or just want to as a question, you can also contact me via WhatsApp, text, or simply call me on 07379 128423.  There is an answerphone if I'm unable to take your call straight away.

How long is the course?

It's 8 weeks in total, with an optional silent retreat between sessions 6 and 7, forming a 9th week.  As the 9th week is optional, it's not included in the price, but neither is there an additional charge for attending.

As the course is progressive in nature, it's highly recommended that you attend all of the sessions.

What resources will be made available to me during the course?

You will receive a course handbook via email.  Access to Meditations will be provided via DropBox. You will need to download the App to your device.  If you cannot access the materials online, I can arrange to send a memory stick to you which contains the meditations.

What can I expect on the first session?

The first session will include an orientation session, where we cover the origins of Mindfulness and start to get to know each other.  There are also some aspects we need to cover from a health and wellbeing perspective.

What can I expect on the rest of the course?

Each session has a different theme, with meditations, some gentle stretching, exercises, education, poems and quotes, where these 'fit' with the theme of the session.  Expect a friendly, supportive environment.  Expect a few laughs, giggles and also some moments of realisation!

I will send details of the Home Practice are included within the Course Workbook, and a copy if this is also added to Drop Box.

What do I wear?

That's an easy one!  Something you feel comfortable in.  Leggings and t-shirt is perfect.  You will be asked to take your shoes off for some of the meditations or mindful activities.

Do I need to bring anything along to the session?

Just an open mind!  Blankets will be provided so you can be all warm and snuggly during the meditations, but you are welcome to bring your own too if you prefer.  I

What happens if I can't attend one or more of the sessions?

If you will only miss one session, then that's OK.  If you can commit to 6 or less of the 8 core sessions, I'd recommend you wait until the next course becomes available.  

Refunds will not be made for missed sessions.


However, life doesn't always run smoothly, so if you really cannot make a session and should future courses run, you would be welcome to attend the session you missed at no additional charge.

How long will each session last?

Other sessions will usually last 90 minutes, depending on the size of the class and the level of participation. Sometimes people ask lots of questions, others not so much. I want to make sure we all have the space needed to fully engage with the materials and for this reason, I allow 2 hours for each session.

i can't now attend - can I have a refund?

The course is experiential and benefits from a group environment where everyone shares their experiences. As such, and as I'm sure you can appreciate, cancellations will affect the dynamics of the group taking the course.  Also  late cancellations mean that we may be unable to refill your place.  


Cancellations within 10 days of the course commencing will incur the full cost of the course.  

I currently have a mental health condition, should i attend?

If you are currently receiving treatment or suffering from a serious mental health condition such as depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, PTSD, addiction etc., I am unable to extend the course to you at present.  I am not clinically trained to understand or deliver courses for those with serious mental health issues.  Please speak to your GP about what courses might be appropriate for you.

Is the course right for me?

Recent Trauma


Mindfulness is not just about relaxation.  There is content that helps you deal with difficult thoughts and emotions. As such, participation can bring any strong emotions to the surface.  Normally, we'd cope with these really well, but I'd advise caution if you have recently experienced a Trauma (e.g. relationship break-down, bereavement).   It's not that Mindfulness can't help you - more about the timing as your mind can get pre-occupied with the bereavement or traumaand you just will not get the same level of benefit from the course.   Please call me if you'd like to discuss this further.  See also 'I currently have a mental health condition, should I attend?'

Insulin Dependent Diabetes

During periods of meditation the body may become relaxed and for some people, over time, meditation reduces stress. This may in turn have an effect on blood glucose and insulin requirements may potentially result in a need for adjustments to pattern of insulin administration and dosage. Please let your doctor or other healthcare professional know that you are doing the course and discuss this with them.

What is the Retreat?

The retreat is an important part of the course, where you can take time out for a mindfulness practice, consolidate your learning and simply take time for yourself. Most participants find the retreat a really valuable and helpful part of the course. 

Timings will be agreed with the group during the course.
